Ūla Damkiene

Uliana's work lives in the space between the real and the constructed: prosthetics, creature effects,... and props built to survive a close-up, and just as often, to become the image itself. Her practice runs the full physical pipeline, from life casting, sculpture, and mould making through silicone and foam latex fabrication to blood rigs and animatronics on set. She treats scars, wear, and asymmetry as the details that make an effect believable, not flaws to smooth away: imperfection is where the work comes alive.

Beyond narrative FX, Uliana is drawn to prosthetics and body sculpture as a fashion medium in their own right: body transformation, hyperrealistic masks, "second-skin" garments, and objects that aren't what they first appear to be. Skin, silicone, and form are used to build a look rather than hide a wound.
